Plum Architects

A bespoke website that does justice to the craft behind the buildings.

Website Design Wordpress

Plum Architects do exceptional work. The problem was that their online presence wasn’t showing it. As a local, boutique architectural practice, they needed a website that could hold its own against much larger firms — one that communicated their design philosophy, showcased their portfolio with the care it deserved, and gave potential clients an immediate sense of confidence. The brief was clear: create something distinctive, professional, and entirely theirs, without stretching a small firm’s budget beyond what made sense.

Plum Architects Website Design

Capturing architecture in a browser

Translating the tactile, spatial world of architecture into a digital experience is harder than it sounds. Every design decision on the site needed to echo the same considered approach Plum Architects bring to their buildings — nothing throwaway, nothing generic. At the same time, the site had to be genuinely practical: easy for visitors to navigate, simple for the Plum team to update themselves, and fast and readable on any device. Aesthetics and usability had to pull in the same direction.

We chose WordPress as the foundation — not as a shortcut, but as the right tool for the job. Custom-designed from the ground up, the site bears no resemblance to an off-the-shelf template. The CMS gives the Plum Architects team full control over their content, meaning they can add new projects, update copy, and keep the site fresh without ever needing to pick up the phone to a developer. Responsive design was built in from the start, ensuring the portfolio looks as impressive on a phone as it does on a widescreen monitor.

The visual approach was deliberate and restrained — exactly as an architectural studio’s website should be. Clean typography, generous white space, and carefully considered layout put the portfolio front and centre, giving each project room to tell its own story. The result is a site that feels like an extension of Plum Architects’ design sensibility rather than something bolted on as an afterthought. Visitors arrive, get a strong first impression, and — crucially — know exactly how to get in touch.

Plum Architects now have a website they’re proud to share with prospective clients, at pitches, and on their business cards. Their online presence has grown meaningfully since launch, with enquiries coming in from visitors who found them organically and liked what they saw. For a small firm competing in a discerning market, that kind of first impression is worth its weight in blueprints.

Testimonial

We are delighted with the company website Stephen (Chemical Design) created for us. He understood our brief perfectly and navigated us through the process with patience and good humour. The design is bolder, clearer, and already paying dividends. We were so pleased, that we recently engaged Stephen for a second time to produce a simple page for a rental property. Again, we were impressed with his interpretation of the brief and final design.
